Prof. Francesc Perez Murano (BSc in Physics in 1989, PhD in Science in 1993) is Research Professor. He is an expert in nanofabrication, with pioneering work in developing novel nanolithography methods, including their combination with IC technologies. He has made post-doctoral stays in Denmark (DTU), Switzerland (EPFL), and USA (NIST). He has led the NEMS and Nanofabrication group from 2007 to 2017 and has been Vice-Director of IMB-CNM from 2017 to 2021.

His main activity is focused in the application of nanofabrication methods in the areas of nanoelectronics and integrated micro/nanosystems, an activity that he is developing in close collaboration with many relevant European groups. He has developed novel methods to fabricate NEMS and he is currently involved in developing a technology for the high-volume manufacturing of single electron devices in the framework of an EU Research Project (Ions4SET).

Dr. Perez-Murano has been Vice-director of the Engineering School of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (2000-2001). He was awarded by the Young Investigator Award of the Generalitat de Catalunya in 2001. He has published more than 200 Publications (h-index 32, 3,769 citations). He has supervised 12 PhD thesis. He has participated as IP in 12 European funded projects (one of them as project coordinator) and more than 20 national funded projects (most of them as a project coordinator). In 2002, he joined IMB-CNM to define and stablish a Nanotechnology oriented research line. He is member of the Steering Committee of Micro/Nano Engineering Conferences, being the co-chair of MNE2017 conference organized in Braga at INL and he has been member of the IEDM sensors, MEMS and Bioelectronics Committee in 2018 and 2019.
